About This Item

How do I create a consistent, fulfilling Bible study routine?

If you've ever struggled to spend time in God's Word on a regular basis, you're not alone.

In this five-session video series, Bible teacher Mikella Van Dyke invites you to chase the sacred narrative woven through the pages of Scripture and get to know God in a deeper, more intimate way. Using the Inductive Bible Study Method, journey with Mikella through the books of Colossians and Philemon to:

  • Observe: Take a look at the biblical setting. Who was the author? What was happening during this time period? You’ll uncover the nuances of the culture and context of the time.
  • Interpret: Take a deep dive into the waters of His living Word. Then learn how to ask questions that will guide you into greater understanding of the text.
  • Apply: Let the Holy Spirit allow the truths of scripture to sink deep into your heart and give you the strength to continue onward in this walk of faith.

In this study, designed for individuals and groups, Mikella offers the reminder that Jesus longs for you to rely on truth, to look up beyond the impossible demands of the world and stand firm in the Father’s unconditional love for you.

Designed for use with the Chasing Sacred book and Chasing Sacred Bible Study, both sold separately.

-          Video Session summaries

o   Session One: Colossians 1 (09:38)— In this opening to the first chapter of Colossians, Mikella emphasizes God's rightful order as Creator and Christ’s supremacy over all creation, both seen and unseen, affirming that no power surpasses His authority. Paul combats false teachings by highlighting that Christ is preeminent and sufficient, urging believers to center their lives on Him and not be distracted by lesser concerns.

o   Session Two: Colossians 2 (08:42)— In this second chapter of Colossians, Mikella reveals that all blessings, wisdom, and power are found in Christ, emphasizing the profound truth of our union with Him—where believers die to sin and are made alive through His righteousness. Paul underscores that Christ is fully God, completely sufficient, and the source of everything we need to face life’s challenges with assurance, strength, and unwavering faith.

o   Session Three: Colossians 3 (11:10)— Mikella’s teaching through Colossians 3 calls believers to live according to their new identity in Christ, setting their hearts and minds on things above rather than earthly desires. This transformed life—marked by peace, compassion, and integrity—is made possible not by human effort, but by the power of the Holy Spirit working within us as we daily choose to reflect Christ.

o   Session Four: Colossians 4 (08:59)— In Colossians 4, Mikella focuses her teaching on how Paul highlights the importance of prayer and the value of ministry partnerships, showing his deep commitment to interceding for others. Paul challenges believers to embrace self-forgetfulness by setting aside personal agendas to serve and pray for fellow Christians, a challenge Mikella encourages us in too.

o   Session Five: Philemon (09:58)— In this video, Mikella takes us through the book of Philemon, focusing on the power of God’s grace to transform relationships, as Paul urges Philemon to forgive and love Onesimus not based on merit, but on the shared bond of Christian fellowship. When we truly understand how undeserving we are of God’s love, we are empowered to extend that same unconditional love and grace to others, fostering reconciliation and unity.
