o Introductory Session (15:42)— Gretchen and Maggie explore common obstacles to deep and consistent Bible study and encourage us to consider how we can become better equipped to study God’s Word every day in every season.
o Session One: Study the Word (14:26)— The Bible is not an instruction manual or self-help encyclopedia. It’s the very Word of God written so that we may know him intimately, trust in his faithfulness, and experience his redemption. When we come to our Bibles ready to experience the slow process of transformation, we will discover that God’s words are sweeter than honey and a gift from our Creator as we delight in him.
o Session Two: The Unchanging Word (14:08)— Beginning the process of investing in God’s Word might feel strange at first, but there are skills we can build that will equip us to approach our Bibles with confidence and consistency. Gathering details first helps us understand the original meaning the text, which ultimately helps us enjoy God through his Word and grow our relationship with him.
o Session Three: The Good News of the Word (18:58)— The Bible is one big story that tells of God’s redemption of his people in four parts: creation, fall, redemption, and consummation. We are still living in this story, and as we study God’s Word, we can look back to see how God was always on a rescue mission, and we can also look forward to the final act of the story.
o Session Four: Transformed by the Word (15:00)— Sometimes we come to the Bible with a snack mentality—looking for a quick treat—when God’s Word is meant to be a lifelong satisfying feast for the soul. When we chew on God’s Word like it’s the best meal we’ve ever eaten, digesting its big ideas and responding with belief, action, repentance, worship, and prayer, we will find delight in our Savior and a deeper relationship with him.
o Session Five: The Word in Every Season (19:03)— There are many different methods of Bible study that can lead us into sweeter relationship with God through a deeper understanding of His Word. Staying open to using different methods in different seasons and studying the Bible in community can keep our feet firmly planted on God’s unchangeable Word when change inevitably comes.
o Session Six: The Word in Everyday Life (16:06)— The Bible is the source of our life—it’s where we receive the nourishment of a relationship with God. But it doesn’t matter how deeply we’ve studied God’s Word if we know the truth but don’t live it out. By attaching spiritual disciplines to daily habits, we can develop rhythms of remaining with God in our everyday lives.
